Church of La Toya

I just don't understand why La Toya hasn't performed live in over ten years. Why can't she perfrom in some small venues to support her singles? I know she wouldn't do it now, with Michael's death and all, but why hasn't she done it before that? It would be great to see her do some small venues with even a ten-song setlist. That wouldn't be bad or costly at all. She should do one-offs like the Slovenia concert back in the 90's, and persorm some covers, and songs from Staartin' Over. I really wish she would do that.

I have thought about that too. I think that she still has some negative feelings towards performing (since she was basically forced to do it for a long time during the Gordon years). But I also think that she enjoys performing to some extent, I remember her saying it in recent interviews as well. I would however love to see her do a show with a perfect blend of her older material and some newer stuff (like Just Wanna Dance, Player and Home of course). I agree with you about her doing some one-offs, maybe to get her feet wet again after so many years, I bet she's a bit rusty. My ideal set list for a shorter gig would be:

1. You're Gonna Get Rocked (with the intro of course), maybe a more contemporary remix while still preserving that great "Full Force" vibe.
2. Just Wanna Dance (with lots of hot backup dancers and disco lights)
3. Jackson 5 medley (like the Slovenia concert for instance)
4. Such A Wicked Love/Player mashup mix
5. I Don't Want You To Go
6. I Don't Play That (Police themed, with Officer La Toya arresting unsuspecting members of the audience)
7. Country Medley (like on that UK "Nashville" reissue, with a good band playing it)
Encore:
8. Heart Don't Lie (recreating that fabulous music video)
9. Just Wanna Dance (reprise, electro remix with even more disco lights)
8. Home (unplugged version and giving a small speech afterwards thanking the audience and reflecting on her brother)

I'd love to hear some other suggestions for a perfect set list.

I would go anywhere to see a live (or not!) show. I think Toy is too shy. My setlist:

Geez, i'd love to hear Toy doing a Samantha Fox cover, it would made the Toy soldier and the Foxy Lady in me very happy! But i have to say that Sam amde tons of great songs, not only Touch me... Toy could do great job with "The best is yet to come", "Out of our hands", or "Threw our love away"....

My favourite of all the songs of hers that I know is I Surrender To The Spirit Of The Night. Toy and Sam should duet!

I don't know if she had said this, but I think that she is definately a good perfromer, we have seen great performances from her in the past. Furthermore, being an entertainer, you have somewhat of an obligation to satisfy your fans, and we would all love to see her perform live. However, I know that she wouldn't do it again, i'm pretty sure about that. I do agree with you, though. If La Toya really didn't want to perform ever again, she shouldn't have to.

I agree La Toya should perform on stage again. I feel she would probably be more comfortable at a moderate size Discotheque or theatre. I would pay to get into a nightclub to see her perform some of her songs. Thanks.

Thanks Nate, I think Toy and RuPaul are still friends, I don't know about Edgar Winter though LOL - I guess they could go for lattes and wig shopping in Beverley Hills for all we know!

We should write a letter to La Toya to pitch the idea to her. Maybe she would be flattered to hear that we really want her to perform again. She could do all her new hits like: Just Wanna Dance, Free the World, and Home. It would be a good chance to let tothers hear the material from the album, even though it willl never be released. It would still promote her popularity.

no an entertainer dosent have any obligation to a fan. a fan either like what an entertainer does or dosent and if the fan dosent then person just simply moves on.i honeslty dont think latoya owes us anything, though i would like her to perform, make music, and talk about herself only not about mj as if she the mj insider.

Yeah she doesn't have an obligation to perform, but if you are an entertainer, you should expect that your fans want you to continue working. She obviously doesn't owe anything to anyone, and she has the freedom to live her life however she wants to. But i'm saying that it would make her fans happy if she performed live, so whats so wrong with expressing that? I'm not the only one who would want to see La Toya sing live again, and even so, she is likely never to do it again; i'm just saying that i would really like to see her do it again.

I must say in her defense, that I'm sure she would be more than happy to talk about herself but the interviewers aren't asking those questions unfortunately. I was upset when I saw the Bonnie Hunt show because there was little to NO discussion about LaToya herself it was all about Michael. This is not LaToya's fault it is the media. They want to talk about what is sensational.
