Paula Abdul has joined Overeaters Anonymous in a desperate attempt to lose weight as her stunnigly slim enemy Janet Jackson vows to destroy Paula's career!
The two singers have become bitter rivals because Janet blames Paula for the breakup of her brother Jackie Jackson's marriage and the feud is a reason Janet recently signed a stupendous $32 million record contract with Virgin Records, the same label Paula's on. Although Janet had similar offers from two other companies, she chose Virgin because she wanted to throw cold water on Paula's hot career by making her "second banana" on label, say insiders. And when Paula discovered Janet had come aboard, she was fit to be tied!
" How could they sign that bitch? I'm twice the singer she'll ever be!"
Paula screamed to a friend.
"If her last name wasn't Jackson she'd be mopping floors at McDonald's!"
News of 24 year old Janet's signing sent Paula on a rampage, confided a source close to Paula 27.
"She was raging fiend spitting out curses, kicking over furniture and hurling things around a room at her home. She trashed the whole room".
Said a longtime pal: "With Janet on the label now, Paula is no longer the queen bee at Virgin and she's seething with anger.
"She feels as if Janet has stabbed her in the back, and she's none to happy with Virgin Records either".
Paula, who's been getting the lion's share of promotion at Virgin, fears that now the company will pust Janet's career more than hers and she'll be shoved out of the limelight.
Upsetting her even more is the fact Janet just slimmed down to a sexy new figure, while Paula recently gained so much weight she became miserable.
Paula, who's only 5 feet tall, had crept up from 113 pounds to nearly 125 in rcent months, a music industry insider reveled.
"On her small frame that was like 30 pounds on anyone of average height."
Upset, Paula began attending Overeaters anonymous meetings and then began hosting twice a week sessions in her Bel Air mansion. She got rid of all the junk food in the house and taped a "fat" photo of herself on the refrigerator door.
"This approach worked so well for Paula that in the first six weeks she dropped 12 pounds," said a close friend.
But now that Janet's breathing down her neck at Virgin Records, Paula is shooting for 105 pounds to look better for her new videos so she won't be outshined by Janet.
Paual and Janet once were buddies. Paula, who started out as a cheerleader with the Los Angeles Lakers basket ball team, created dance routines for some of Janet's videos and also choregraphed part of the Jackson's 1984 "Victory" tour.
But the two women became bitter enemies after Paula started dating Janet's brother Jackie a realtionship that broke up his marriage, Janet believes.
Janet told an insider: "Paula chased Jackie and finally landed him. He lost his wife Enid, whom we all loved, and his tow kids were devastated by the divorce that follwed.
"Paula just used my family to get where she is. She wanted my brother as stepping stone, and then she used me."
Janet also is furious that Paula has hinted in interviews she should share credit for Janet's success saying she taught Janet all she knows about dancing.
But Janet says that's bull. "Just where does Paula get off saying she created my style!" she told a pal.
"I had my own style when I hired her. She just helped work out a few routines for me.
"Paula didn't make me. I made myself! I was around long before Paula and I'll be around long after her!"
But Paula told a friend: " Without my choregraphy Janet's videos wouldn't have been such big hits".
As the feud heats up, insiders say Paula had better watch out for Janet because she's out for blood.
